Deeply Rooted in Lineage & Tradition

At One Yoga Vancouver we are deeply connected to the roots of Yoga and try to maintain the teachings that have been passed to us from our teachers.

The main root of our Yoga is Sri T Krishnamacharya, who was a prolific scholar and teacher of Yoga, spirituality, and health sciences. He had a profound impact on modern yoga and we are blessed to be taught by several of his direct students and their students.

Our Teachers

Mr Ramaswami has been our loving and thorough teacher at One Yoga for over a decade. He travels from India to teach and more recently has been teaching us online from his home in Chennai, India.

Ramaswami is one of Krishnamacharya’s longest consistent students, and was blessed to study with his Guru for over 30 years. He teaches the Vinyasa Krama method which combines a particular way of controlling breath with specific and organized movement patterns to bring optimal function to the physical body inside and out.

Ramaswami is also extremely well studied in all aspects of Yogic philosophy and history and has a very exhaustive chanting repertoire that he recites and teaches. He truly is a rare gem and true yoga master teacher who is nearly unparalleled on Earth at this point in history.

He has had a profound impact on the quality of Yoga that we are able to offer at One Yoga. We are so honoured to do our humble best to pass on the wisdom he shares.

Sri Shubha is Krishnamacharya’s youngest daughter and learned from her father for over 50 years! She also has over 50 years of teaching experience and shares a pure form of Yoga deeply rooted in devotion.

Her classes are a blend of ancient yogic wisdom and vinyasas passed on to her from her father, mixed with a modern view of adaptation and variation of exercises.

She believes and shares that Yoga ought to be viewed as an individualized practice that is designed to support and nourish the overall wellbeing of the practitioner. She emphasizes breath and rest throughout her classes.

Sri Shubha has the most caring and loving approach to teaching and is so humble in the way she shares her deep well of knowledge.
