EMERGING - A SPRING EQUINOX BREATHWORK CEREMONY with Malina

Ceremony is an important practice in the indigenous way of life.  It  helps us to transition and shift our energy on all levels of our being.  Practicing in community and moving through seasonal shifts together can create a coherence and beneficial energy to help lift ourselves and each other up.  Sometimes showing up can feel so hard when we are alone, when we gather together, it can feel a little (or a lot) easier.  Working with the breath in particular ways is a very ancient yogic practice and it helps us embody our life lessons deeply through our nervous system as we grow through each season of life.

This breathwork ceremony can help you transition, emerge and renew your energy from the long slow winter and help you to nourish your mind, body, heart and spirit to plant new seeds for this next season.  Bring a journal, blindfold, sacred object/photos for the community altar, extra padding for added comfort, and an open mind to refresh your nervous system and step into spring energy with intention.

Bring a journal, blindfold, sacred object/photos for the community altar, extra padding for added comfort, and an open mind to refresh your nervous system and step into spring energy with intention.

Beginners are welcome.  This is a gentle yet deeply activating breathwork practice that works for practitioners in all stages of life.

VINYASAKRAMA ONLINE WORKSHOP with Srivatsa Ramaswami

Of the ten major Vinyasakrama sequences three important ones would be taken up for study in this program and a session on pranayama

Day 1.  Of the three standing sequences in Vinyasakrama yoga Trikonasana with other subroutines as Uttita parvakonasana, parsvottanasana and virabhadrasana will be taken up for study and practice. It will be extended to include prasarita padottnasana culminating in samakonasana. Trikonasana and related subroutines afford deeper practice of the skeletal system due to a broader base to work with.

Day 2.  Suptasana or supine poses sequence--  It would contain subroutines as apanasana dvipadapitam urdhvaprasarita padahastasana culminating in Sarvangasana, the Queen asana . Further vinyasas in sarvangasana and  the counterposes (pratikriyas) will also be included

Day 3. Asana  in sanskrit means to be seated . The goal of all asana practice is to be able to sit in a yogic posture for a sufficiently long time to practice pranayama and meditation. Here two classic postures Vajrasana and padmasana with vinyasas  would be taken up for study and practice. The day's work will include other seated poses like siddhasana gomulhasanas and more

Day 4. Acme of Hatayoga is pranayama. It is a practice included by all yogis --hatayogis, raja yogis, bhakti yogis and others. About ten different pranayama procedures will be gone through with brief practice in each of the procedures. An introduction to mantra pranayama also will be taken up.

HANDS-ON ASSISTS with CLARA

Hands On Adjustments Training

Hands-on assists can help students understand the alignment of the pose for their own bodies. Learn how to discern what is needed to help them gain awareness, proper alignment and perhaps go deeper.

Whether you're a teacher looking to assist your students in the standing series or a student looking to understand how to do the poses correctly in your own body, this workshop will benefit you.

DAY 1 - Adjustments 101 & The Standing Series

Saturday June 7, 1:30-5:30pm

Creating a safe space for our students and ourselves is the most important task we have as yoga teachers in a class.

We’ll start the weekend discussing different methods for asking for consent, the difference between adjustments and enhancements, how to move around the room with confidence and different ways we can remain grounded as we teach.

Next we’ll go over poses in the Standing Series. We will cover the poses in the sun salutations as well as the standing series: triangle, side angle, warrior 1 &2, revolved chair, lunge and more.

Day 2 - Review & Application

Sunday June 8, 12- 4:30pm

We'll start with a 90 minute practice where Clara will apply many of the adjustments we worked on Day 1. We'll spend the next 3 hours going over the adjustments both in theory and practicing on each other.

Yoga Teachers - Receive a CE certificate of 8.5 hours for Yoga Alliance.

All participants will receive a printed manual of the adjustments.

Cost: Just Saturday $125, both days $195
